Analyst: Broadcast nets are being "pecked away at" by rivals

The broadcast networks, facing increasing competition from cable and digital rivals, should nonetheless be able to generate a small uptick over last year's $9.25 billion upfront. "The networks aren't dead," said Gary Carr, senior vice president and executive director of national broadcast at TargetCast. "They still have many of the big events -- sports, the Oscars -- but they're being pecked away at."
