DHS ramps up speed on approving site-security plans

Chemical facilities are seeing faster approvals of their site-security plans under the Chemical Facilities Anti-Terrorism Standards program. A May fact sheet shows the Department of Homeland Security has approved 85 plans and authorized 380 plans, up from 53 approvals and 280 authorizations the month before. In September, DHS said it had completed only two approvals and 73 authorizations.
