Experts: Mixed-use concept is driving hotel growth in the Middle East

Middle Eastern states such as Egypt, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are drawing hotel developers with mixed-use development opportunities, experts said during the recent Arabian Hotel Investment Conference in Dubai. Such large-scale projects seek to accelerate urban development in the region, one expert says. "Large-scale developments play an important transformational role to the brand Qatar. ... Dubai has done great in terms of development and branding itself, and Doha is going the same path, with Qatar Airways' growth and improving facilities," said Christopher R.J. Knable, chief operating officer of Katara Hospitality.
