America's first registered NP practicing in San Diego County

Thirty-seven years after becoming the nation's first registered nurse practitioner, Nurse Belle Gerrie is still caring for patients at Kaiser Permanente's OB/GYN department in El Cajon, Calif. Gerrie gained her NP status in 1967 when participating in a grant program and her story is told in honor of International Nurse's Week.
