Cable companies expand local on-demand programming

Comcast and Cablevision Systems are among the growing number of cable companies offering their customers more local on-demand programming, such as local newscasts, on their on-demand services as another means of keeping subscribers from switching to other service providers. Comcast's digital subscribers in Pennsylvania can access local content such as parades and high school sports games through their on-demand service.
