Overweight children have worse lipid profiles

Overweight children are more likely to have elevated lipid levels that indicate a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, with the risk increasing with age, researchers told the Pediatric Academic Societies annual meeting. "These results suggest that abnormal lipid values may persist and accumulate in overweight children throughout childhood," said the study's presenter.
