Infectious disease expert assesses H7N9 flu

The H7N9 flu continues to lack one of the three factors necessary for a pandemic, according to Dr. Andrew Pavia of the University of Utah. The virus infects humans and causes disease but is not easily transmitted between people. Pavia praised international surveillance systems and information sharing, but he said fast and reliable point-of-care tests are needed.
