IRS scrutiny of conservative groups went beyond a single office

Documents obtained by The Washington Post show that the Internal Revenue Service's practice of singling out conservative groups seeking tax-exempt status for extra scrutiny wasn't limited to its Cincinnati office, contrary to what Internal Revenue Service officials first said. Officials at IRS headquarters in Washington and at two field offices in California participated in the effort, according to the documents. "If in fact IRS personnel engaged in the kind of practices that have been reported on, and were intentionally targeting conservative groups, then that's outrageous," President Barack Obama said.
