NENA head supports all-IP pilot projects

NENA CEO Brian Fontes supports telephone carriers' planned pilot projects to shift some markets to all-IP service. Carriers would be required to support next-generation 9-1-1 service in those areas. "I’m pleased that the commission has done this -- it speaks volumes, in terms of ensuring that the American public will have access to advanced 9-1-1 as the commercial world moves to IP as the backbone for their communications," Fontes said.
