New APA guidelines aim to make PTSD diagnosis easier

The American Psychiatric Association has included updated guidelines and criteria for PTSD in the latest Diagnostic and Statistical Manual. The new standard eliminates some of the restrictive criteria for a PTSD diagnosis and adds symptoms including cognitive difficulties and strong body reactions to sensory triggers such as smells as evidence of PTSD.
