Taiwan exports largely unaffected as yen falls

Even though Japan's yen has fallen 14% against the U.S. dollar this year while Taiwan's currency has eased only 2.6%, Taiwan exports have yet to be substantially affected, DBS Bank says in a report. DBS economist Ma Tieying noted that competitiveness depends on many factors in addition to price, including production costs, technology and product quality.
