DHS chief calls for legislation, international cooperation on cybersecurity

The ease with which an international network of hacker-thieves nabbed roughly $45 million from ATMs in 27 countries without so much as stepping foot in a bank underscores the vulnerability of the world's computer networks and serves as a grim reminder of how much progress still needs to be made on cybersecurity, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said. Speaking Tuesday at the Reuters Cybersecurity Summit in Washington, D.C., Napolitano expressed her frustration at the congressional gridlock that has stymied cybersecurity legislation on Capitol Hill and said nations need to develop an international framework for addressing cyber crises.
