Hollywood's ageism apparent in casting of mother characters

Hollywood’s tendency to cast female actors as mothers to characters they couldn’t be old enough to have in real life is an example of the ageism that exists in the entertainment industry, writes Sagit Maier-Schwartz. Current examples include the 15-year age difference between Holly Marie Combs and Lucy Halle on "Pretty Little Liars" and the 11 years separating Sofia Vergara and TV mom Elizabeth Pena on "Modern Family."
