Owners Whitney Ferguson and Susan Young say their uptown Charlotte, N.C., boutique Blis is thriving despite catering to a crowd that mostly leaves the area once the workday is over. The boutique serves its clientele by making sure the store is organized, keeping the inventory fresh and carrying relatively inexpensive items that shoppers can buy quickly on work breaks. Blis recently moved into a new, larger spot and has experimented with Saturday hours.
