Ill. school district to offer alternative to calculus

Students in an Illinois school district who have completed the standard three-year math series of algebra I, geometry and algebra II, will be able to take a fourth math class this fall, and it won't be calculus. The Alliance for College Readiness, which includes educators from Elgin Community College and surrounding high schools, created the math course and its accompanying textbook in an effort to prepare students for college math classes.
