Obama fires IRS chief over targeting of conservative groups

President Barack Obama forced acting Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Steven Miller to resign in response to the agency's practice of singling out for special scrutiny conservative organizations' applications for U.S. tax exemptions. Obama called the IRS's actions "inexcusable" and promised to "do everything in my power to make sure nothing like this ever happens again." Several lawmakers had demanded Miller's resignation.
