AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson sees a growing demand for ultra-high-speed fiber-optic service and says telecoms will likely "piggyback" on the rules and conditions imposed on Google in bringing gigabit-speed fiber-based services to selected areas. "You will see others doing this, because the demand for really high-speed broadband via gigabit-type fiber-based solutions on a targeted basis is going to be very, very high," Stephenson told an investor conference today.
