Study: Math, reading ability at young age may pay off later in life

Children with strong math and reading skills in elementary school are more likely to earn more money later in life, according to a new study by researchers at the University of Edinburgh. Researchers said the findings suggest that it's key to provide interventions in these subjects. "There was no flattening off of the return to these skills at either end: So it is of value all the way from remedial intervention to the most gifted levels to raise these skills," study co-author Timothy Bates said.
