Senate could vote on reform bill as early as Wednesday

The Senate could vote on legislation to overhaul the financial-regulatory system in a matter of days because Sen. Harry Reid, D-Nev., "likely" will to file cloture on the bill today, said a spokesman for the majority leader. However, some high-profile amendments are still being considered. For example, Sens. Jeff Merkley, D-Ore., and Carl Levin, D-Mich., are behind an amendment that would ban some banks from participating in proprietary trading.
