Apartment starts dropped in April

Housing starts fell 17% in April, led by a 38% decline in the number of apartments being built. The apartments figure is typically volatile, because each unit is counted individually in the month the building's construction begins. Building permits rose, however, crossing the 1 million mark for the first time in five years.
