House Republicans push for further oil, gas drilling

Two bills introduced by House Republicans seek to amend federal energy lease sales and open more areas to oil and natural gas development. A bill introduced by Rep. Doc Hastings, R-Wash., would mandate lease auctions in the National Petroleum Reserve-Alaska every year. A measure by Rep. Doug Lamborn, R-Colo., meanwhile, would establish new shale development rules and require swifter permitting.
