Md. surpasses national average in school breakfast participation

Maryland's school breakfast program has "hit a major milestone," said Cathy Demeroto, director of Maryland Hunger Solutions. A recent report released by the organization found that, for the first time in the state, more than half of the students who ate lunch at school also ate breakfast, and the state surpassed the national average in breakfast participation. Demeroto said that the greatest spikes in participation have been reported at schools that serve breakfast in the classroom.
