N.H. town appeals rejection of wind power proposal

The town of Antrim, N.H., has filed an appeal and a request for a rehearing over the state's rejection of a permit for the Antrim Wind Energy project. The appeal came on the heels of two public hearings that centered on the town's acceptance of $40,000 from the developer to offset any visual impact and to fund any enhancement project in the surrounding area. There was no reason to refuse the offer because the town had already signed off on the project and had already entered into a payment-in-lieu-of-tax deal with Antrim Wind, said the town administrator.
