Report: 2012 was a boom year for wind power

More wind turbines were installed globally in 2012 than ever before, bringing the world's wind power capacity to 3% of global electricity demand, according to a report by the World Wind Energy Association. Global wind power installations reached 45 gigawatts in 2012, taking the world's wind power capacity to 282 GW, the report stated. The U.S. and China were at the forefront of wind power investments last year, adding 13 GW of capacity each, the report showed.
