Researchers use iPS cells to produce hematopoietic stem cells

Researchers in Japan said they were able to create hematopoietic stem cells from induced pluripotent stem cells. The method involved inducing benign tumors in mice using iPS cells and then adding catalysts to trigger the formation of blood-producing stem cells. The team hopes to develop a method for creating cells that does not rely on the use of tumors.
