White House criticizes House bill on SEC analysis

The White House opposes a bill intended to force the Securities and Exchange Commission to conduct further economic study before adopting rules. The legislation is scheduled for a House vote Friday. "The bill would add analytical requirements that could result in unnecessary delays in the rulemaking process, thereby undermining the ability of the SEC to effectively execute its statutory mandates," according to the Office of Management and Budget.
