Bill to disclose meds with gluten introduced by 2 lawmakers

Reps. Nita Lowey, D-N.Y., and Tim Ryan, D-Ohio, introduced a bill that would require drugmakers to disclose when treatments contain ingredients derived from grain or starch. The Gluten in Medicine Disclosure Act aims to assist approximately 3 million patients with celiac disease. "Just as consumers deserve to know if their food contains gluten, it is critical that consumers know if medications contain gluten," Lowey said.
