First-time unemployment claims climb in U.S.

Initial jobless claims increased by 32,000 last week, to 360,000, the Labor Department says. Economists had expected a total of 330,000. The four-week rolling average, seen as a better benchmark for labor-market conditions, rose by 1,250, to 339,250.
