Fruit stand operator protests Toronto's strict street food laws

Restrictive laws in Toronto that ban even simple fruit carts came under fire this week when the group Food Forward set up an illegal fruit stand in front of city hall. Progress on moving the city's food scene forward has been marred by an earlier failed program, and two councilors have been working to launch a food-truck pilot project this summer with 15 vendors.
