GAO: Government's data-center consolidation oversight is weak

The U.S. government's goal of shuttering 40% of data centers within two years may not meet its target, according to a report from the Government Accountability Office. The effort is lacking in oversight and the project is falling behind, according to the report, which also points out there is no process in place to completely track the expected $3 billion in cost savings.
