Some of the latest names being bandied about to replace Republican Federal Communications Commission member Robert McDowell are Michelle Connolly, an economics professor at Duke University and ex-chief economist at the FCC under Republican Chairman Kevin Martin, and longtime communications attorney Harold Furchtgott-Roth, who previously completed one term on the commission. Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., whose office is reviewing candidates' credentials, is believed to be focusing on one candidate, a source said.
