Post-holiday surge shows mobile games' strength over hand-held consoles

While consumer spending on Nintendo's and Sony's hand-held consoles tailed off in the first quarter due to the customary seasonal slowdown after the year-end holidays, sales of games for Android and iOS devices exploded, according to a report by App Annie and IDC. Games for Apple's mobile devices were leading in Q1 revenue, while Android games had more volume in downloads, the firms found.
