Robots may soon find their way into distribution centers

As technology continues to progress, more companies may begin to integrate robots into their warehouse operations. Robots have previously been too expensive and too inflexible to find a home in distribution centers, but modern robots are becoming cheaper by adopting technological advancements from the consumer electronics industry, said Tom Bonkenburg, a consultant with St. Onge. Certain automated solutions -- such as forklifts that don't need drivers -- are already on the market, he noted.
