Bill seeks to simplify carbon-footprint calculations for biofuels

Legislation has been introduced in the U.S. House to reverse a provision in a 2007 energy law that set standards for greenhouse-gas reductions and proposed restrictions on ethanol and biodiesel development. The bill, introduced by House Agricultural Committee Chairman Collin Peterson, D-Minn., seeks to allow the EPA to calculate the carbon footprints of biofuels without having to consider land-use changes.
