Former NIH chief nominated to lead National Cancer Institute

President Barack Obama nominated Dr. Harold Varmus, former NIH director and a Nobel Prize recipient for research into the genetics of cancer, to lead the National Cancer Institute. Varmus serves as president of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City.
