Study: Counseling fails to reduce gestational diabetes

A study published online in PLoS Medicine found that lifestyle counseling on diet and exercise for women at high risk of maternal gestational diabetes mellitus did not prevent the disease. Researchers in Finland said they did find women who had the counseling had lower newborn birth weights and fewer babies considered large for their gestational age.
