Fla. hospitals seek out errors affecting complications

Florida hospitals are starting an $800,000 program to identify errors that cause infections and problems that prolong patient stays or lead to readmissions. The first step is analyzing patient records on complications in four areas: surgical site infections, urinary tract infections, colorectal surgery and surgery on the elderly.
