Study: Overuse of antibiotics starts at doctors' offices

Overprescription of antibiotics at doctors' offices could lead to a buildup in individual resistance to the drugs, which in turn contributes to the community-level spread of drug-resistant bacteria, according to a study. Experts said financial incentives are needed to convince drug companies to develop new antibiotics.
