U.S. saw decline in auto theft last year, NICB says

Auto thefts in the U.S. dropped for the sixth straight year in 2009, with rates dropping by 18.7% in the first half of last year from year-ago levels, according to the National Insurance Crime Bureau. Laredo, Texas, and four cities in California are the urban areas with the highest auto-theft rates in the country, said the NICB.
