Researchers develop PET-guided mammography system

European researchers have developed a PET-based device called MAMmography with Molecular Imaging that will allow doctors to detect breast cancer at its earliest stage. Researchers said the system will let doctors initiate treatments one to two years earlier than the usual practice and will also allow for monitoring of patients' response to therapies.
