Analysis: U.S. drifts toward another debt-limit standoff

The U.S. is slowly heading into another standoff between President Barack Obama and Republicans in Congress over raising the national debt limit, according to The Economist. "One way out of the impasse would be a deal that trims spending along the lines Obama's budget has already proposed, and raises tax revenue through the sort of reform Republicans want," the magazine notes. "The alternative, which unfortunately is all too plausible, is more fiscal brinkmanship."
