Design problems could delay Chinese coal futures

Problems in the design of thermal coal futures could delay their release on the Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange, according to a China Energy News report. "It's typical for domestic power plants to blend high-heating-value thermal coal with lower-value coal as a way to promote efficiency and reduce costs, so delivery problems could emerge if the contract isn't designed with this in mind," said coal analyst Guan Dali of Chem365.net.
