Google: In-app purchasing remains the revenue king

In-app purchasing in titles offered by Google Play is up 700% year-over-year, according to executives at the Google I/O conference. And even though subscription business is also promising, "[t]he momentum is still clearly behind in-app purchase," Darrell Etherington writes. Google also cited monetization benefits for tablet apps and apps that take advantage of updated capabilities.
