Installation of skylights, light tubes depends on roof structure

Skylights and light tubes bring natural light indoors and save on energy, writes Mike McClintock. Skylights suit vaulted ceilings but may not be compatible with attics that have low-slope trusses. Another option to bring natural light indoors is light tubes, which are oversize metal ducts that can be installed by cutting through the roof and flashing the opening, McClintock notes.
