Mass. district aims to focus social studies curriculum on local, world issues

A curriculum review committee in Lexington, Mass., has been working to update the K-12 social studies curriculum, so students can learn about regional history, as well as current events in the community, nation and the world. The effort includes offering opportunities for first-hand learning, such as in the fall when middle-school students participated in mock elections.
