New NIH institute to focus on neglected, rare diseases

The NIH obtained funding from Congress to create the Therapeutics for Rare and Neglected Diseases Program, which aims to get promising treatments through risky preclinical stages of development. The project will publish failed and successful studies of drugs to help guide other scientists. Publishing failures is uncommon in the medical field.
