Pets a cause of distracted driving

Dogs and cats in the car can prove as much of a distraction as talking on the phone while driving, a cause for concern since a majority of pet owners say they travel with their dog or cat in the car. Unrestrained pets pose not only a possible distraction but also a potential hazard -- during an accident, animals can go flying through the air and injure passengers.
