Economists see U.S. consumers picking up the slack

Economists expect U.S. consumer spending to pick up this year, largely offsetting a decline in government outlays. The net result, according to the latest survey by the National Association for Business Economics, is an unchanged forecast of 2.4% U.S. growth this year followed by 3% next year.
