Family Medicine conference focuses on payment, workforce issues

Physician payment and the need for workforce reform were prominent issues at the recent Family Medicine Congressional Conference. Speakers discussed increased legislative action to eliminate the sustainable growth rate formula in Medicare and replace it with a system based on value and quality, AAFP efforts to create new evaluation and management codes for primary care, and the importance of the Teaching Health Center Graduate Medical Education program that sends GME money to community-based ambulatory care centers.
