International internships -- the new way to study abroad?

The number of students at the University of Pennsylvania opting for a semesterlong study abroad assignment has remained flat, but participation in short-term programs is up, officials say. The university is responding to this trend by encouraging more students to seek non-credit international experience either through internships or service oriented projects.
